The objective of the academic programmes at Government College of Technology, Karachi is to ensure regular supply of technical personnel to meet the growing demands of trained manpower in the country. In pursuance of the above objective it provides technical education in the following areas.

1. Three years Diploma of Associate Engineer (Morning Programme)

2. Three years Diploma of Associate Engineer (Double Shift Programme, Evening)

3. Three years Diploma of Associate Engineer (Self Help Basis Programme)

4. Bachelor of Technology (Pass) Degree Programme

5. Bachelor of Technology (Honours) Degree Programme

 

 

The total number of seats for admission for the current Academic Session 2005-06, under all categories are as follows:
Bachelor of Technology (Pass) First Year 177
Bachelor of Technology (Pass) Second Year(Direct Admission) 177
Bachelor of Technology (Honours) First Year 177

 

 

No student is eligible to sit for the University Examination unless he has atleast 85% attendence in Practical Training
(as well as Fortnightly Meetings) and 75% class attendance in the Courses (Theory and Practical separately).

Under exceptional circumstances, students may apply for leave of absence to the Principal who may sanction such
leave for short periods but the grant of such leave will not be acceptable as a plea for not putting in the required
percentage of the attendance which is a prerequisite for being eligible to appear in the NED University examinations.
